Bosnian MP Duda Balje, who was involved in an audio recording with the suspected spy, Fatmir Sheholli, has denied that the conversation with her had anti-national purposes. Balje said that the recording, which was published by public television, is more than 6 years old and was made when the multi-ethnic group was functional. She implicated the Vetëvendosje Movement in this publication. She said that this is a blow from the largest party because of "non-cooperation with them".
Pristina - Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK) on Friday published an audio recording between Fatmir Sheholli, who was arrested for espionage, and two other people.
According to sources from "Betimi për Drejtësi", this audio recording is said to feature MP Duda Balje and a person named Amir Rrustemović. The latter has stated that he cannot speak, as according to him, he is a state person.
"If you notice, I am mentioning GP 6+ which has not existed for a long time. The recording is old. My voice in this recording is only at the beginning when I state that I have no contact with anyone, I have not communicated with anyone and I am concentrated on the conversation with my parliamentary group. Then the conversation begins with the second person, Amir Rrustemović, who works where now and for whom I do not know," she told Koha.
Balje said she has no contact with any of the people involved in the video recording. She says that as far as she remembers, the topic was "Wahhabism." She emphasized that there is no MP from the multiethnic group who has not collaborated with Sheholli in the framework of his activities at the Institute for the Advancement of Interethnic Relations.
"I'm not really sure now, but the topic was the Wahhabis with whom we in Prizren have had a lot of problems and this was the topic, I think. With Mr. Sheholli, there is not a single community MP who has not talked to him. I am convinced of this because he had an institute for communities and these were the reasons why he often talked to us," she stated.
She said that she has no contact with any of the people on the recording and that her engagement as a member of parliament has never been against the interests of the state of Kosovo.
"I don't know what he did, or what he did (Sheholli), I am not competent to make any statement, but I want to say that I have no contact with any of the people I am recording. I have done nothing wrong. I want to say that for 4-5 terms that I have been an MP, I can say with full responsibility that I have never done anything, not even a small thing, against my state of Kosovo. Never," she emphasized.
According to her, after not cooperating with the Vetëvendosje Movement in the new legislature, this is the second blow she has received from this party.
"In this mandate, from the moment I decided not to support the Vetëvendosje Movement, this is practically the second blow. The first one affected my family, my parents and children, and now it affects me personally," she added.
On Friday, public television released an audio recording of espionage suspect Fatmir Sheholli with two people, whose identities were not initially disclosed. In it, Sheholli is heard affirming his friendship and strong ties with Milan Radoicic.
Fatmir Sheholli was arrested on Thursday by Kosovo Police with the assistance of members of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency, on suspicion of "espionage".
In the early 90s, Sheholli was a member of the Serbian State Security.
In public appearances, he has said that after the war he was engaged in the Kosovo Intelligence Service (SHIK), but has also admitted that he worked as an inspector for the UDB in the 90s.
