EC President Von der Leyen writes a letter to Kurti, asks new round of Kosovo-Serbia take place as soon as possible

The European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen in a letter sent to Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, asked that next meeting between Kosovo and Serbia as part of the EU-facilitated dialogue should take place as soon as possible. She promised support for Kosovo to get visa liberalization and advancing its European path, Gazeta Express reports.

Kurti’s Press Service published Von der Leyen’s letter on Sunday when she congratulated him on assuming office as Prime Minister of Kosovo. She said that a credible European Union perspective for the Western Balkans remains a priority for the Commission. “We want to see Kosovo advance more quickly on its European path and will continue to support progress on the reforms this requires,” Von der Leyen wrote on her letter. “Acknowledging the importance for Kosovo citizens, we will continue advocating for a positive EU decision on visa liberalization,” she said.

The EC President said that she welcomes the commitment of Kosovo PM Kurti to engage constructively in the EU-facilitated Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue. “It is essential that the next high-level meeting of the Dialogue can take place as soon as possible. This is crucial for progress in the respective European path of Kosovo and Serbia and for your citizens,” Von der Leyen wrote on her letter. /GazetaExpress/
