Customs officer, board chairman of Brezovica Ski Centre arrested over illegal construction of villas

The Basic Prosecution Office in Ferizaj jointly with the Kosovo Police have carried out an operation Wednesday searching several locations in Strpce Municipality, including facilities of the parallel municipality financed by Serbia, and have arrested to suspects, Gazeta Express reports.  

According to the Prosecution Office, at the order of the State Prosecutor, the arrested persons N.G customs officer and S.I., chairman of the Board Ski Centre Brezovica, have been ordered a 48-hours detention, suspected of criminal charges “Receiving bribes,” from the Article 421 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.

Today’s arrests are part of an operation launched on 21 December 2021 when former mayor of Strpce, Bratislav Nikolic, municipal directors and businesspeople were arrested suspected of bribery and misuse of official duty or authority by issuing permissions to construct villas within the Ski Centre resort area in Brezovica. In January seven people were arrested, including two officials of the Kosovo Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, suspected of misuse of official duty or authority and receiving bribes. /GazetaExpress/
