A British couple have died after their Ferrari plunged off a mountain highway into a river in northern Spain.
Pictures show the wrecked black supercar in the Yuso River in Boca de Huergano, on Saturday.
The couple, a 78-year-old man and 58-year-old woman, are said to have been part of a large group of about 20 other Ferrari owners taking part in a rally.
Local media outlets said the pair had been driving along a scenic highway, the N-621, prior to the fatal accident.
Emergency services were called out shortly before 2pm on Saturday, the provincial council of Leon said.
The vehicle was overturned with part of it underwater.
In a six-hour operation, crews had to clear undergrowth to gain access to the river bed before removing the car door to retrieve the body of the couple.
Police have not yet named the couple.
It is not known whether they died from the impact of the crash or drowned in the river.
A FCDO spokesman said: “We are supporting the families of a British man and woman who died in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities.”
