Republican Senator, Rand Paul, supports the idea for the United States troops be withdrawn from Kosovo. Sen. Paul in a statemented posted in Twitter said that he encourages Kosovo to turn a page and work with Serbia for a lasting peace.

“I support peace and commerce with all. I encourage Kosovo to turn a page, and work with Serbia for a lasting peace. Time to bring our troops home after so many years over there…” Paul wrote in Twitter. He was retweeting a statement of another US Senator, David Perdue who on Tuesday urged Kosovo authorities to drop tariffs on Serbian goods. “For over two decades, US forces have helped keep the peace between Kosovo & Serbia. Now, with historic progress in sight, Kosovo must do its part & abolish all duties imposed on Serbia. If Kosovo is not fully committed to peace, then the US should reconsider its presence there,” Perdue said. His statement was retweeted later also by Donald Trump’s son who said time has come for US troops leave Kosovo. “Agree. There are 650 US troops in Kosovo. Time to bring them home,” Donald Trump Jr.  said retweeting Perdue’s statement.

US is urging Kosovo authorities drop 100 percent tariffs on all Serbian imports introduced by former prime minister Ramush Haradinaj in November 2018. Newly appointed prime minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti has presented his plans to partially drop tariffs, but the proposal was not welcomed by the US. President Trump’s special envoy on Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Richard Grenell, said the US does not support half-measures of Kosovo government and urged Kurti to fully abolish tariffs and resume dialogue with Serbia. /GazetaExpress/
