The Kosovo Police have announced that early on Saturday two explosions occurred in Sharpej of Jarinje near the border with Serbia, Gazeta Express reports.

The Kosovo Police in a statement distributed to media said that the explosions occurred near a police vehicle stopped at a static point where the police is focused aimed at prevention smuggling activities in the area. Based on the preliminary investigation of the police it is suspected that firecrackers were thrown from the territory of Serbia. No injuries or material damages have been reported by the explosion.

“The incident occurred in a place near Serbia’s territory and there is a grounded suspicion that these devices were thrown from the territory of Serbia. The Police was monitoring an illegal road closed some time ago which was used for smuggling of goods,” according to the press release. The Police is dealing with this case and will continue operational activities to prevent cross-border criminal acts in that area and provide security for all.

Saturday’s attack is the fifth in a row over the last four days. On Friday Minister of Interior Xhelal Svecla and General Director of the Kosovo Police, Samedin Mehmeti, announced that Kosovo Police cars came under fire in the north while they were changing shifts. According to Svecla the police were attacked with hand grenades and AK47. He called these attacks as “terrorist acts.” The attacks have been strongly condemned by Kosovo state leaders, opposition parties, and international missions in Kosovo, including US Embassy, KFOR, and the European Union Office in Kosovo. /GazetaExpress/
