Albanian Police arrest ex-KLA member on a Serbian war crimes warrant

The Police in Albania on Sunday have arrested and later released a former member of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) based on a Serbian arrest warrant for alleged war crimes.

Head of the KLA veteran,s Hysni Gucati confirmed Sunday that the police in Albania have arrested Murtez Kastrati from Lipjan, based on an arrest warrant of Interpol issued by the state of Serbia.

Kosovo Foreign Minister Meliza Haradinaj-Stublla has reacted following the news and spoke over the phone with her Albanian counterpart Gent Cakaj, who clarified that Kastrati was only halted for verification and was shortly released. She said that Serbia continues its obstructive actions against Kosovo. Haradinaj-Stublla said that in order to avoid similar situations in the future she forwarded to Albanian authorities a list of all KLA veterans. /GazetaExpress/
