Kosovo Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Svecla said that Kosovo has granted temporarily shelter to over 683 Afghan refugees fleeing Taliban.
Svecla said that the US-affiliated Afghans have been sheltered in the construction camp of Bechtel-Enka near Ferizaj, and within the US Military Camp Bondsteel. Currently there are 91 Afghans. He said that according to the agreed plan arrival of Afghan refugees will continue also during this week.
Earlier Kosovo authorities have announced sheltering of around 2,000 Afghan citizens who used to work with the United States and other NATO members. According to applicable laws, Kosovo gave them a one-year temporarily permission to live here, Radio Free Europe has reported. The Afghan refugees are expected to temporarily stay in Kosovo until the documentation for US immigration visas was arranged. The first group of Afghan refugees landed at Pristina International Airport on 29 August. /GazetaExpress/
