Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic told Israeli President, Isaac Herzog, that Belgrade is disappointed after Israel recognised Kosovo as independent state.
According to a statement issued by Serbian President’s Office, Vucic and Herzog spoke by phone Tuesday. Vucic said that “regardless of disappointment” Serbia wants to improve relations with the new leadership of Israel. According to the statement Serbia expects Herzog and Israel support the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia “as the only path towards a solution.”
Israel and Kosovo established diplomatic relations on 1 February 2021 following pledges signed on 4 September 2020 at the White House at the presence of the then US President Donald Trump. After the recognition, Kosovo opened its Embassy in Jerusalem. Based on the Washington Agreement also Serbia agreed to transfer its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, but no decision has been made yet. /GazetaExpress/
