Kosovo officially opens Embassy in Jerusalem

Kosovo has officially opened its Embassy in Jerusalem Sunday. Kosovo and Israel established diplomatic relations on 1 February 2021 and a Kosovo-Serbia summit held at the White House in September 2020. The new embassy was opened by Ines Demiri, Kosovo’s charge d’affaires in Israel.

Kosovo’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora announced in a press release that the “Kosovo Embassy in the State of Israel, with headquarters in Jerusalem, officially has been opened.”

Kosovo becomes the first European country to establish its embassy in Jerusalem, following similar moves by the US.

“Setting of the plaques and the state flag at the Kosovo Embassy in Israel reflects the Government of Kosovo’s commitment to comply with the pledge for establishing the diplomatic mission to Jerusalem,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Kosovo’s decision was taken after outgoing Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti met with Serb President Aleksandar Vucic at the White House in September with then-president Donald Trump. /GazetaExpress/
