26 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed late on Monday in Kosovo raising the total number to 61. The COVID-19 has claimed first victim in Kosovo on Sunday, Gazeta Express reports.
“Tonight on 23.03.2020 the National Institute of Public Health has tested 100 samples from people who were in contact with the already confirmed coronavirus cases and were in self-isolation,” the institute said. According to the press release the testing of so many cases was done aimed at tracing all contacts of already confirmed cases identified by Institute teams. “Out of 26 confirmed cases all are contacts traced from the patients already tested positive (family members and close contacts) detected through an active epidemiologic research. 14 of the cases are from Malisheva municipality, 11 from Gjilan and 1 case from Gjakova,” the Institute said.
The Institute of Public Health from 08 February to date has tested 690 samples suspected of COVID-19 and 61 out of these cases were tested positive, including death of an 82-year-old man. /GazetaExpress/
