More than 130 thousand vaccine doses of Astra Zeneca company have been thrown away in Kosovo because they expired, according to Minister of Health, Arben Vitia. The vaccines which were received as a donation from Norway expired on 31 August 2021.
Kosovo was among the last countries in the region and Europe to start vaccination against COVID-19, and has wasted 133,234 vaccine doses, as citizens are struggling to schedule an appointment.
Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, addressing media Wednesday has announced that health authorities have removed from administration over 133 thousand doses of Astra Zeneca vaccine, Gazeta Express reports. Vitia admitted that the vaccine doses have expired on 31 August. He also confirmed that the vaccines were part of donation from Norway.
“Today we have removed from administration 133,234 vaccines of Astra Zeneca company part of a donation from Norway, because they expired,” Vitia said. He said that this is not good news for citizens of Kosovo. Vitia urged citizens to vaccine following surge of COVID-19 cases and deaths and spread of delta variant in Kosovo. /GazetaExpress/
