The Government of Kosovo has refused a United States project on natural gas supply. Gazeta Express has learned that conditions set out by Prime Minister Albin Kurti are impossible to meet.

The project on building the infrastructure for distribution of the US natural gas has been discussed between the Government of Kosovo and Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) with the latter pledging 200 million dollars for this project. Gazeta Express has learned that Kosovo Prime Minister Kurti has set out conditions for this project which were impossible to be fulfilled.

On Friday Kosovo Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, during a press conference said the Government needs additional time to decide on the US project adding that the financial cost of the project was still unknown. “There are some issues which need additional clarification, such as finances, overall cost of the project, building of the power plant,” she said adding that no decision will be taken without knowing all the costs.

The US Administration of President Joe Biden in 2021 included Kosovo in the budget of the federal agency MCC pledging 200 million dollars investment to build the gas pipeline that goes through North Macedonia and Greece and connects with the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) or other sources. /GazetaExpress/
