Political analyst Dragisa Mijacic, who also deals with the dialogue process between Kosovo and Serbia, said that Prime Minister Albin Kurti's appointment of Agron Bajrami as head of the negotiating team in the Dialogue with Serbia is a reduction in the level of representation, writes Gazeta Express.

According to Mijacic, Kurti acted reciprocally, as Vučić had lowered the level by placing the head of the so-called Office for Kosovo, Petar Petkovic, at the head of the negotiating team.

"The Kosovo government has appointed Agron Bajrami, Kosovo's ambassador to Belgium, as the new chief negotiator in the dialogue with Serbia. In this way, Pristina has lowered the level of negotiations from the deputy prime minister of Kosovo to the level of a civil servant (ambassador), which is a clear message," Mijacic wrote, Express reports.

According to Mijacic, in addition to the reduction in the level of representation from Kosovo and Serbia, expectations for the dialogue have also been lowered by the EU. He says that Brussels has focused on solving technical problems instead of aiming for a political agreement. He says that Sorensen and Kallas have also been trying to arrange a Kurti-Vučić meeting for a long time but have not been successful.

“The EU has also lowered expectations. Instead of seeking a political agreement, the focus is on resolving technical issues, which Sorensen has been dealing with since his appointment. At the political level, Sorensen and Kalas have been trying unsuccessfully for some time to organize a meeting between Vučić and Kurti,” he wrote.

The Serbian analyst said that the Dialogue is no longer a topic for either Pristina, Belgrade or Brussels.

"It lasted too long, and its failure and lack of perspective pushed serious diplomats and promising politicians away from dealing with this topic," he wrote./Express/
