The President of the Republic of Kosovo Hashim Thaçi had opposed the appointment of Miroslav Lajcak as EU special envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue since the very beginning. In fact, Thaci had even stated that he would not accept to meet Lajcak if the latter would sit at the dialogue table with the stance of the Slovak state regarding the independence of the Republic of Kosovo. President Thaci had openly criticized Lajçak, while in one case he had even provoked the reaction of the EU spokesman, Peter Stano.

It seems that such an approach has made the only contact so far between Thaci and Lajcak to be just a letter written on 8 April, while Lajcak has called all political and institutional leaders of Kosovo, except for Thaci. So far, Lajcak has called the caretaker Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, the Speaker of the Assembly, Vjosa Osmani, the leader of the LDK, Isa Mustafa, the leader of Nisma, Fatmir Limaj, the LDK deputy chairman, Lutfi Haziri, Srpska List chairman Goran Rakic, as well as the head of the Serbian Government Office for Kosovo chairman Marko Djuric. Lajcak also called almost all Western Balkan leaders, including Serbia, North Macedonia, Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It is still unknown if Lajcak has been in contact with Trump’s envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Richard Grenell, with whom President Thaci has good relations. /GazetaExpress/
