US Embassy: Kosovo to approve same-sex civil union law similar to others in the region

US Embassy in Pristina sees as positive step the statement of the Kosovo Justice Minister that the new civil code paves the way for same-sex marriages.

In a Facebook post the US Embassy said proceeding the draft civil code to the Assembly is a step in the right direction for human rights and equality for all. On Tuesday minister of Justice Selim Selimi said the new civil Code if approved by the Assembly paves the way for same-sex marriages in Kosovo and he is engaged in drafting a special law allowing these marriages. “We also commend the Justice Ministry’s plans to open a debate on a same-sex civil union law similar to others in the region,” the US Embassy said. /GazetaExpress/
