Serbia’s Football Club Banned From Entering Kosovo

On Wednesday, Serbia’s Football Team Red Star (Crvena Zvezda) was banned from entering Kosovo at the border crossing of Jarinje in the north. Serbia’s champion Red Star and Trepca a Serbian club based in North Mitrovica were due to play a round of the Serbian Cup match. The Kosovo Football Federation deems the match as illegal because is organised without their consent. The Kosovo Football Federation says that they are the only institution organising official games in the territory of Kosovo.

The Kosovo Police (KP) sent reinforcement at the border crossings of Jarinje to prevent entrance of Serbian club. The Red Star supporters from the northern Zvecan town and players were expected at the crossing at 11:30 am local time, while the match was scheduled for 2 pm. Head of Serbia’s Government Office for Kosovo, Marko Djuric has reacted after the ban saying that “Kosovo must be immediately expelled from both UEFA and FIFA.” /GazetaExpress/
