No deadline on reaching Kosovo-Serbia deal, says US Envoy Grenell

US President Donald Trump’s special envoy for dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, Richard Grenell, addressing media from the US Embassy in Pristina on Thursday said that there is no deadline for Kosovo-Serbia deal on normalisation of relations.  

Talking on compromises of parties in dialogue, Grenell said that jointly with the US President Donald Trump is trying to find ways on boosting economic development. “What I heard from the US businesses is that they want to come here but they think there is still ongoing conflict. Whether or not, this scares people. What I am trying to do is to bring businesses here and I am not concerned with the political struggles. The reality is that governments all over the world face these difficulties on government formation,” Grenell said.

Asked by Gazeta Express if he thinks it can push forward the dialogue agenda with the Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti as potential prime minister of Kosovo, Grenell was positive saying “yes” and added that he is ready to work with all political leaders.  Talking to journalists in front of the US Embassy in Pristina, Grenell, has commented also his meetings with political leaders who are negotiating a coalition deal after Kosovo’s early elections in October 2019. The US Ambassador said that he is not interested to deal with political issues reiterating that he wants to see economic development and opening of new jobs in Kosovo. Grenell said that he is interested to convince US and European businessmen to come and invest in the region.
