Kosovo’s outgoing prime minister, Ramush Haradinaj, and president Hashim Thaci, have appointed Kreshnik Gashi as the new chief of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (KIA), and Burim Ramadani as the General Inspector of the KIA, Gazeta Express reports.

Haradinaj confirmed the news in a Facebook post writing that the Gashi and Ramadani are figures with integrity and experts in security, guaranteeing professionalism and credibility of the KIA. “Based on my constitutional and legal competencies and in coordination with the president, today I have appointed Kreshnik Gashi as director of the KIA, whereas Burim Ramadani as General Inspector of the KIA,” Haradinaj wrote.

Also the President’s Office has confirmed appointment of Gashi and Ramadani. “Kosovo president Hashim Thaci and prime minister Ramush Haradinaj have appointed new Director of the KIA, Kreshnik Gashi, and General Inspector of the KIA, Burim Ramadani. The decision was taken based on the Article 84, paragraph 21, based on Article 94, paragraph 8, of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo,” the President’s Office said in a statement.

Vetevendosje leader and likely prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said last week that the new chief of KIA should be appointed by the new Government. The position of the KIA chef was left vacant after former chief Shpend Maxhuni has offered his resignation at the beginning of this month. /GazetaExpress/
