Kurti: Ease of restrictive measures in Kosovo has nothing to do with protests

Political opponents of the caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti linked the ease of restrictive measures with the protest that Kurti’s party – the Vetevendosje is organizing for Thursday, as the Constitutional Court is expected to announce these days its  ruling on the President Hashim Thaci’s decree on nomination of the prime minister-designate.

But Kurti told news agency Kosova Press that the ease of measures is a result of the government’s good management of the COVID-19 pandemic. “Proper and good management of pandemic has created the conditions for the ease of measures,” he said. “The movement will be allowed from 05:00 to 21:00, but still the citizens must keep physical distance of at least two meters, maintain personal hygiene, and not avoid family visits. As far as civic organizations and protests are concerned, they are citizens’ rights and have nothing to do with the latest decisions (on ease of restrictive measures),” said Kurti.

Kurti’s party the Vetevendosje has asked the Constitutional Court for an interpretation on whether President Thaci’s decree on nominating new candidate for prime minister was in line with the Constitution or not. The Vetevendosje says that Thaci cannot bypass them as winner of elections and give mandate to Avdullah Hoti of the LDK to form new Cabinet. Kurti has stated that Thaci’s move was unconstitutional. /GazetaExpress/
