Kosovo President asks swift formation of new Government

Kosovo president Hashim Thaci said the Constitutional Court’s decision proved country’s independent institutions are working successfully. Thaci held a press conference after receiving the full decision of the Constitutional Court which ruled his decree on forming new Government as constitutional.  

“Today, I have received the ruling of the Constitutional Court on assessing the constitutionality of my decree after proposing MR. Avdullah Hoti for prime minister. The ruling proved once again that democracy in Kosovo is mature and independent institutions are working successfully. [The ruling] paves the way on formation of the Government. Let us hope this is a new chapter of stability,” Thaci said.

Kosovo President said he was convinced his decree on nominating Avdullah Hoti of the LDK for prime minister was not in violation with the Constitution. “I was aware that every step I took be in line with the Constitution,” he said.

“I expect the new Government be established as soon as possible, because circumstances dictate a functional and efficient government. Kosovo has no luxury o having political stalemate. I call on political parties and the prime minister designate to take their responsibilities,” Thaci said. /GazetaExpress/
