Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti accompanied by Speaker of Parliament Vjosa Osmani visited Thursday miners of industrial complex Trepca in Stanterg who are protesting for better working conditions.
Kurti addressing protesters pledged their requests will be addressed and promised dismissal of boards of the publically-owned enterprises. “Yesterday we dismissed the Board of Telecom of Kosovo and we will continue with other boards but we need time to act because we barely finished two weeks of work in new Government,” Kurti said.
Arsim Musa, one of the organizers of the protest asked PM Kurti to dismiss the Board of Trepca, accusing them of nepotism during recruitment procedures of new miners. Protesters dispersed with Kurti promising to meet miners’ representatives in his office to further analyze their demands.
In 2016 the Parliament of Kosovo approved a Law putting the huge mining complex under government control with the state taking 80 percent of shares and miners 20 percent. The law on Trepca saved this company from bankruptcy. /GazetaExpress/
