Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti asked the Assembly Speaker Glauk Konjufca, to convene the Assembly in an extraordinary session tomorrow (Saturday) and produce a resolution on whether to allow organising of Serbia’s referendum in Kosovo’s territory or not, Gazeta Express reports.

The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that during the urgent session of the Assembly will be drafted and voted a joint resolution expressing the will of MPs on organising of Serbia’s referendum in Kosovo.

“The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has addressed the Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca, a request for an extraordinary session of the Assembly, in accordance with the article 69, paragraph 4 of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo and article 38 paragraph 2b of the Regulation of the Assembly of Kosovo. The Prime Minister Kurti in his addressing asked the Assembly to convene in an extraordinary session tomorrow, Saturday, (15 January) 2022, at 14:00. The agenda of this session is discussion related to Serbia’s aim to organise referendum on constitutional changes in the territory of the Republic of Kosovo. The discussion from this session is aimed at producing a joint resolution expressing political willingness of MPs and Parliamentary Groups and the Assembly of Kosovo, related to abovementioned issue,” it is written in the press release.

Kosovo Government was put under pressure after Ambassadors of QUINT (United States of America, France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom) and head of the EU Office in Kosovo issued a joint statement urging authorities to allow Kosovo Serbs vote on Serbia’s referendum on Sunday. Ambassadors of QUINT held a meeting with Kurti, President Vjosa Osmani and Speaker Konjufca to discuss this issue. After the meeting the three state leaders in a joint statement stated that organising Serbia’s referendum in Kosovo represents violation of country’s Constitution. The three leaders reiterated that Kosovo Serbs with dual citizenship are free to vote by mail or at Belgrade’s Liaison Office in Pristina. /GazetaExpress/
