Jamaica recognizes Kosovo’s Independence

Jamaica has recognized Kosovo’s Independence. The news has been confirmed by Kosovo president Hashim Thaci.

President Thaci in a Tweet on Thursday evening said that he was notified by Kosovo’s Ambassador to US, Vlora Citaku, that Jamaica has recognized the Republic of Kosovo as sovereign and independent state.

“Great news! I just got notified from our Ambassador Vlora Citaku that Jamaica has recognized Republic of Kosovo as sovereign and independent. I know this is a result of hard work & lobbying of several years, including [US Congressman] Eliot Engel. Good work. Thank you dear friends from Kingston!” Thaci wrote in Twitter.

More than 110 countries of the world have recognized Kosovo, including US and most of the EU member countries. Kosovo celebrated on 17 February 12th anniversary of the Independence. Jamaica’s recognition is the first after Serbia’s aggressive campaign against Kosovo’s statehood claiming that some of the countries, mainly in Africa, have withdrawn recognition of Kosovo. /GazetaExpress/
