Former Drenas mayor Nexhat Demaku and former member of Kosovo Parliament Fadil Demaku, have been ordered to serve prison sentence after in 2017 a court sentenced the two brothers to three years in prison for beating civilians at the detention centre during1998-1999 Kosovo war.
In addition to the Demaku brothers, on Saturday were arrested also brothers Driton, Agim and Selman Demaj, all former members of the Kosovo Liberation Army, KLA. The Association of the KLA veterans as explained in a statement that Nexhat and Fadil Demaku were sent to prison to serve the remaining sentence. They were temporarily released after the case was sent to the Constitutional Court which ordered the Supreme Court last year to review the case, citing violations of the defendants’ right to a fair and impartial trial. In a statement of the Assocaition of KLA veterans, is confirmed that also brothers Driton, Agim and Selman Demaj have been arrested as suspects in this case known as Drenica 2. /GazetaExpress/
