Hague Prosecutors quizzed Kosovo Justice Ministry Official
Lawyer Artan Qerkini has confirmed on Monday that the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office (SPO) at the Hague has questioned Driton Lajci, director of the office on protection of Potential Indictees by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers which operates within Kosovo’s Ministry of Justice, Gazeta Express reports.
In a press release, Qerkini said that on 17
October Lajci was questioned for two hours by the Hague prosecutors. “Considering the news published by some online
media that Mr. Driton lajci has been questioned by the SPO for three days in a
row, I want to confirm that in my capacity as lawyer of Mr. Driton Lajci, my
client was questioned by the SPO only on 17 October 2019 for about two hours, and
the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office was interested on functioning of the Office
on offering judicial help for potential indictees,” Qerkini wrote in Facebook.
He said that his client gave a statement by
explaining functioning of this Office. He informed the SPO that establishment
of the Office is done in compliance with rhe Law on Judicial protection and
Financial Support of the Potential Indictees, which was passed by the
