The Western Balkans Summit held in Berlin on 29 April was organised in full coordination between Germany and the United Stated. German Government’s press service told Gazeta Express that Berlin is in continuous communication with Washington when it comes to Kosovo-Serbia relations, thus refuting Kosovo president Hashim Thaci who said that there was no coordination between Germany and United States during the Berlin Summit.

Kosovo president Hashim Thaci is trying to downplay the importance of the Berlin Summit, held last month, hosted by German chancellor Angela Merkel and French president Emmanuel Macron. Thaci in his recent interviews said that there was no coordination between hosts and the US during the Berlin Summit. “I was shocked when learned that there was no exchange and communication with the US during the Berlin Summit,” Thaci stated earlier.

But German Government in an answer to Gazeta Express has refuted Thaci’s statement. “German chancellor and French president, have invited state and government leaders of the six Western Balkan countries, Croatia, and Slovenia, as well as the EU High Representative Federica Mogherini. The Government of Germany, of course, was in close and continuous coordination with the United States at different level, including here also the situation in Western Balkans,” it is stated in an answer of the German Government’s press office sent to Gazeta Express.  /GazetaExpress/
