Former Kosovo MP travels to Hague for war crimes questioning

Former member of Kosovo Parliament, Zafir Berisha, has travelled to the Hague for questioning by the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office investigating alleged crimes committed by the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). Berisha who was former KLA commander confirmed the news to Gazeta Express.

Former MP of Nisma was summoned by the Hague prosecutors n 11 December 2019 to be questioned for his role as wartime commander of the KLA. On Tuesday he travelled to the Hague but without revealing whether he was summoned as a suspect or witness. “Yes, today I arrived at the Hague, I was summoned for my role as a KLA solider and for fighting against Serbin regime,” Berisha told Gazeta Express.

Around 200 former KLA soldiers have been summoned by the SPO in 2019 and 2020 including high ranking ex-KLA commanders and soldiers. The Kosovo Specialist Chambers and Specialist Prosecutor’s Office was established in 2015 to investigate and try alleged crimes committed in Kosovo during and after the war. /GazetaExpress/
