Political parties in Kosovo have entered the final phase of preparations for the June 7 parliamentary elections, intensifying work on drafting their lists of candidates for deputies. By May 12, political entities must submit their lists to the Central Election Commission, while the announcements of most of them show signals that there will be a combination of parliamentary and political experience with new arrivals.

One thing is certain in Vetëvendosje – all of this party's past MPs will be on the electoral list again.

Although she did not specifically mention any new arrivals, the former head of the VV parliamentary group said that there will be some, while indicating that attention will be paid to gender, social and community representation.

"The performance of the current MPs is evaluated as I said. We have done a good job in such a short time. The vast majority of MPs will be the same, while there will definitely be new names. It will be a representative list as you know in each election, the Movement has paid attention to gender representation, certain categories, different social groups and representatives of different communities. I believe that this will continue in the same way in these elections," she emphasizes.

In the Democratic League of Kosovo, discussions about the electoral list are being accompanied by the stance of competing only with the clear identity of this party, even though others may come and merge into it. Member of the Presidency, Armend Zemaj, declares to KosovaPress that the goal is for the LDK to enter the elections with its logo, while others who are expected to join this entity, to become part of this political project.

Zemaj says that former president Vjosa Osmani is also expected to join the LDK list, and even lead the party's candidates for MPs.

According to him, the former president and her associates will receive 20 seats out of the 110 total seats on the Democratic League's list of deputies.

"Despite those agreements that are called coalition agreements, our insistence is to compete with the LDK logo and for others to become part of our victory or ambition to win the June 7 elections… I believe the list is as it has been among the best lists, but this time there may be a return of figures who for a moment have been passive or not active as part of the Kosovo Assembly. There are interests of the branches to have representation of figures, but this remains in the personal authority if people have ambitions. The rest is what is publicly known, the return by agreement or the natural return of Vjosa Osmani to the LDK. (Will she be the bearer of the list?) We have no restrictions, this is something positive since we are giving something of our political sovereignty. In the past, the president has given number 1 to another candidate and this is not new in our subject… The offer is generous and there is no restriction. It could be somewhere up to twenty people," he declares. Brother.

Meanwhile, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo is aiming for broad territorial representation in its list. Deputy Chairwoman Time Kadrijaj has confirmed that the list will consist of 110 candidates, as stipulated in the regulation, and will include representatives from all areas of Kosovo, and not just from one region, with which this party has been identified, at least until now.

She emphasized that, in addition to the existing names, there will also be new candidates, while the Alliance, according to her, is already in an internal electoral process that is serving as a mobilization phase before the start of the campaign.

"There will be representatives from every zone and district. There will be 110 candidates as foreseen by the regulations and we will compete strongly in these elections... I believe that there will also be new names. Since the legal and time deadlines are approaching, May 12 is the date when the electoral lists must be submitted, we have started preparations in advance. You know that we are in an internal electoral process and so we have a pre-campaign and we are mobilized in this process", declares Kadrijaj.

KosovaPress also communicated with PDK officials on Wednesday, but they were hesitant to talk about their electoral list. According to them, the campaign strategy and the names of the candidates for MPs will be discussed at today's leadership meeting, which starts at 15:00.

Kosovo will hold early parliamentary elections on June 7 following its failure to elect a new president by April 28, the constitutional deadline for doing so. The first Sunday of June's vote is the third at the national level since February 2025. /KP/
