Russia is helping Iran by providing information on the locations of US military forces in the Middle East, according to US officials cited by the Washington Post.
Since Saturday, Russia has reportedly given Iran the locations of several US military targets, including warships and aircraft.
The report notes that it is unclear to what extent Russia can provide accurate information to Iran, although one of the officials said it is a “fairly comprehensive effort” on Moscow’s part.
Russia and Iran have long maintained close ties, and in January 2025 the two countries signed a strategic partnership agreement to further strengthen cooperation, including military and defense partnerships.
Earlier this week, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that Russia is "not really a factor" in the conflict with Iran.
