Vetëvendosje Movement MP Enver Dugolli claimed that they are very serious about resolving the issue of electing a new President and said that his boss, Albin Kurti, is making efforts in this direction.
Asked about the statement by PDK leader Bedri Hamza, who said that his party is waiting for an official invitation for a meeting from Kurti to respond, Dugolli said that even a "verbal invitation" is official.
"Mr. Kurti's declaration that he will consult opposition parties on the election of the president is official, but it will also be formalized, why not, with official invitations. But official invitations are also verbal, they are not only written ones. We are interested in seriously communicating and resolving this issue. Kurti and Hamza are expected to meet, so I hope that, with a substantive communication, this issue will also be overcome," he told RTV21.
Dugolli, whose parliamentary group has a parliamentary majority, said that the burden of overcoming the crisis for the president falls on the opposition. Meanwhile, the Vetëvendosje Movement has so far nominated two of its members for the position that requires a unifying figure.
"If the opposition wants to avoid the elections, the solution is there. We are considering that the country needs to elect the president and avoid the elections."
Dugolli added: "We are very interested in resolving this issue," while insisting that "the opposition parties are the ones who would avoid the elections." /Express/
