Liverpool manager Arne Slott has said his side still believe they can do something special in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG come to Anfield with a 2-0 lead after a convincing victory in Paris, but Sloti is confident that Liverpool can pull off a historic upset.

"In the last 50 home games, we have scored two or more goals on 36 occasions. Yes, we have not always played against PSG, but also the opponents in the Premier League and the Champions League are very strong," he said.

"There is confidence that we can do something special, but we have to be very, very special because we are facing the European champions. That makes the task more difficult, but not impossible," he added.

Sloti also asked for the fans' support for another big European night.

"The fans will be just as important as our performance. I hope they give even more than last year," said the Dutchman.

He admitted that the team needs to improve significantly compared to the first match.

"We have to be much better than last week. One goal can change everything," he said.

The coach's confidence was also shared by midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.

"I believe completely, because I know what we can do and what mentality we have. We will give everything from the first minute to the end, even if we have to play 120 minutes," said the Hungarian.

Meanwhile, defender Ibrahima Konaté stressed that PSG has a slight advantage as they had more rest time.

"It makes a difference when they can rest more, but we have to deal with this as professionals," said the French defender.

The slot left open the possibility that 17-year-old talent Rio Ngumoha could also play a role in this great challenge.

"He has personality and quality. He doesn't get distracted and has shown that he can make the difference one-on-one," said Sloti.

Liverpool are coming off a win over Fulham at the weekend, and are now aiming for a spectacular comeback to keep their Champions League dream alive./Express newspaper/
