Retired Lieutenant General Eric Wendt is a Professor of Practice, teaching Command and Leadership at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS). While still on active duty in uniform as a general, he was deployed to Europe and served as Commander of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Special Operations Headquarters.
He commanded all NATO-assigned Special Operations Forces (including Albanian special operations units) and worked with defense and military leaders in Albania. Previously, he served for a year in Afghanistan as Deputy Regional Commander, which included overseeing Albanian military personnel.
During more than 34 years of active service, he has held several senior command positions and led organizations with up to thousands of military, civilian, and interagency personnel. His extensive leadership experience, proven ability to manage complex multinational and interagency organizations, and his regional expertise across Europe make Lieutenant General (Ret.) Wendt highly qualified to serve as United States Ambassador to the Republic of Albania.
Lieutenant General (Ret.) Wendt received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a Master of Science degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. He is fluent in Arabic and Korean.
