The wheat purchase price of 12 denars per kilogram and covering all costs for producers is unacceptable to the National Farmers Network.
Gjorge Karakshev from the National Farmers' Network says that the purchase price is much lower than the production price, which has been prepared since 2023 and is about 19 denars per kilogram of wheat.
He requests that the state intervene in paying the difference between the production price and the purchase price. Otherwise, the harvest of bread wheat, that is, wheat in Ovče Pole and the Štip region, is at its peak, and it is expected that this year's wheat harvest will yield a good yield and quality grains.
Karakshev adds that according to initial analyses, an average of about 3,000 kilograms per hectare should be harvested.
"We expect to have about 160,000 to 180,000 tons of wheat production, and our needs are much greater, meaning we will not have even half of what we need and will have to import," Karakshev said.
He stressed that the barley harvest is also nearing completion, and farmers are receiving between 300 and 350 kilograms per decare. Barley is being purchased at 9.5 denars per kilogram.
The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, Cvetan Tripunovski, announced yesterday that a purchase price for wheat has been reached. One kilogram will be purchased at a net price of 12 denars.
"All those who will have wheat from the 2024/2025 harvest in the coming period, according to the declared yield and quality, this year the mills will buy wheat from the first and second categories, in the first category, because as I emphasized, the quality is excellent. The net purchase price for the wheat will be 12 denars, plus the additional costs that follow," said Tripunovski.
He emphasized that the Ministry's tendency is to achieve a level of production that will meet domestic needs.
