Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has released a video that also contains a piece of communication in a phone call with former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi, who is being held in custody at the Special Court in The Hague, accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Rama is heard congratulating Thaçi on the 18th anniversary of independence.
"Happy independence to you too, commander," he is heard saying, as Thaçi begins to speak to him.
Rama also tells him that he is worried "about this story."
"My brother, I hug you tightly, I love you very much. I'm very sorry that I can't do more, but... I'm happy and I hug you tightly and I say goodbye to those friends," he is heard saying to Rama Thaçi.
Rama described the call as emotionally difficult, pointing out in his Facebook description some words that Thaçi repeated to him.
"For years, the February 17th congratulatory phone call from The Hague has been emotionally difficult, but today the Commander was as calm as ever in his voice, repeating to me twice, at the beginning and at the end, "I have won my freedom forever and no matter where I am, no one can ever take it away from me!"".
