A 23-year-old man from Saraqina, Tetovo, has been found dead in Austria, after being reported missing since Monday.
His body was found in Lake Faker, and Austrian authorities are investigating the case. Due to the unclear circumstances of his death, an autopsy has been ordered.
According to Austrian media, a large-scale search operation was carried out on the lake on Thursday evening, involving numerous emergency services.
The alarm was raised at around 6 p.m. after belongings belonging to a missing person were found on the lake shore. Shortly afterwards, the police, firefighters and water rescue services launched a large-scale search operation. A police helicopter was also sent to assist in the aerial search. During the operation, in addition to the police and firefighters, several water rescue units were also present at the scene. A total of twelve rescue divers and two divers from the Klagenfurt professional fire service took part in the search.
Several rescue boats were deployed at the same time, with divers being constantly changed. The shore was also blocked off and cleaned. Beachgoers were forced to leave the area and were taken to higher ground via ladders. The search operation was finally called off at around 8pm. Divers found the missing 23-year-old at the bottom of the lake after a search of around 40 minutes.
The deceased was a 23-year-old from the village of Saraqine near Tetovo, lived in Faak am See and ran a café there. He was last seen in Drobollach at 17:00 p.m. on Monday, after which his family reported him missing./Skopjeinfo
