Kosovar judoka Distria Krasniqi excelled at the Paris Grand Slam, winning the gold medal in the up to 52 kilogram category.
Krasniqi's journey to the final was long and difficult, but the Kosovar judo star showed her strength and experience. In the final against Spain's Ariane Toro Soler, Krasniqi ended the match with an Ippon in less than 10 seconds, securing Kosovo's triumph.
In the previous rounds, Krasniqi advanced past the first round thanks to her world ranking, then defeated Frenchwoman Alicia Marques in the second round.
The quarterfinal against Brazilian Larissa Pimenta was a tough challenge, but Krasniqi managed to win in extra time and secure a place in the semifinals.
There, the Kosovar dominated Frenchwoman Amandine Buchard, taking an early "Yuko" point and maintaining the score until the end.
This triumph secures Krasniqi's ninth gold medal at the Paris Grand Slam, confirming her as one of the country's most successful judokas.

Fationa Kasapi was eliminated in the repechage by South Korean Seyun Jang.
Laura Fazliu was disqualified along with opponent Gili Sharir from Israel for inactivity.
Akil Gjakova was eliminated in the second round by Italian Manuel Lombardo, after three penalties that led to disqualification.
Erza Muminović lost in the second round to Spaniard Eva Soler.
