The Telegraph has returned attention to Albanians in England, after a new case that concerns immigration authorities.
According to the newspaper, Albanians post videos on TikTok and give instructions to illegal workers on how to avoid checks by Home Office officers and the police.
The Telegraph writes:
In the videos posted, Albanians working without permits are advised not to answer officers’ questions, to film the inspectors and to challenge the authorities on who is being searched. One Albanian citizen, now a British citizen, warns: “Be careful, make an exit plan and do not give out information about your employer.” She compared the searches to ICE operations in the US.
The accompanying messages also show the latest statistics: arrests have increased by 83% and the groups most affected are the Albanian, Roma and Asian communities. TikTok users are given contact numbers and instructions on what to do in case of a check.
The Home Office has been contacted about the case, while British officials are trying to stop the spread of these tips and strengthen controls on businesses that employ illegal workers.
