AAK's Tahiri: This legislature has started and ended backwards

Besnik Tahiri, former member of parliament for the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), said that if someone asked him for an assessment of the 10th legislature, he would answer that it started the work backwards and finished it even more backwards.

"On the day of the opening of the Assembly, a vote was requested from the deputies without the deputies having at least the exposition, at least an orientation of the strategic policies that the Government has made. To make matters worse, we did not have either the list of ministries or the names of the incoming ministers," he said, reports Betimi për Drejtësi.

Tahiri added that the legislature has started backwards since everyone knew that the first task is the formation of the Government and the election of the President. And during this time, there have been moments when there has been a tendency for the Assembly's agenda to dominate rather than the role of the Assembly in unblocking the situation.

"If we analyze this legislature, there are two "historical" parliamentary moments. First, this is the shortest legislature in the history of Kosovo and second, the majority has the most requests for extraordinary sessions, in the past the opposition has had them," said Tahiri.

According to him, the political agenda has been to elect a president who suits the majority.

Another characteristic, according to him, is that no one has done anything to avoid going to the elections, and this, according to him, is very interesting.

"There was no intention to elect president," said Tahiri.

Tahiri said in the end that AAK were excluded from the discussions, but they performed well in this legislature and emerged as the most active party in the Assembly. 

"I am proud, this is the fourth year I have been elected the most active MP," he said.

Otherwise, the Kosovo Law Institute (KLI) organized a discussion conference on Tuesday on the topic: "The 10th Legislature of the Kosovo Assembly: Challenges, Crises and Lessons for the Future", within which the monitoring report on the work of the 10th Legislature of the Kosovo Assembly was published.
