British Prime Minister Keir Starmer met with MPs and ministers in Parliament today, after allies of Health Minister Wes Streeting said he could launch a leadership challenge tomorrow, the BBC reported.
"We cannot allow a leadership contest to plunge the country into chaos... a leadership challenge would 100% do that," Starmer said.
Streeting would need the support of at least 81 Labour MPs to challenge Starmer.
Meanwhile, allies of Defense Secretary Al Carns expect him to run if there were a leadership contest - although he would be an outside candidate.
Starmer admitted that he needs to change after meeting with MPs.
According to sources, Starmer held two meetings, one with ministers of state and one with junior ministers, which lasted about 15 minutes.
The British Prime Minister told them that the leadership contest would "plunge the country into chaos" and that nothing good would come of it.
