Atletico Madrid were eliminated from the Champions League this year, after being defeated in the semi-finals by Arsenal.
After the first leg ended 1-1 in Madrid, Atletico were defeated 1-0 in London, with Arsenal booking their place in the Champions League final in Budapest.
After the match, Diego Simeone spoke to the media, revealing that Atletico were denied a clear penalty on Antoine Griezmann in the second half.
"There's no point in talking about that CLEAR penalty against Griezmann. There's no point in talking about it now. Sometimes the referees' decisions can be in our favor, sometimes not. Tonight, we were unlucky," he said after the match.
He also congratulated Arsenal on this achievement, mentioning his counterpart.
"Congratulations to Arsenal, they deserve it because they have fought for years to reach the final. Mikel Arteta has done an incredible job so far, so I'm happy for them," he added.
Atletico remained without any trophies this season, having previously 'surrendered' in the race for the La Liga title and also lost the Copa del Rey final to Real Sociedad.
Meanwhile, Arsenal will host the winner of the Bayern Munich - PSG match in the Champions League final, with the first leg ending 5-4 in favor of Paris./Express newspaper/
