The White House has released a statement about the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The statement says that Trump and the Chinese president had "a good meeting" and that the two sides discussed ways to increase economic cooperation.
It is further added that leaders from many of the largest companies in the United States participated in part of the meeting, and that both leaders emphasized the need to advance progress in stopping the flow of fentanyl precursors to the United States.

Both sides agreed that the Strait of Hormuz should remain open to support the free flow of energy. President Xi also made clear China's opposition to the militarization of the strait and any attempts to impose tariffs on its use, and expressed interest in purchasing more American oil to reduce China's dependence on the strait in the future. The two countries agreed that Iran can never have nuclear weapons.
