The Association of Journalists of Macedonia (ASHG) emphasizes the need for the selection of leadership positions, director and deputy director, at the Radio Television of Macedonia (RTM) to be conducted through a transparent, inclusive and credible process, with a clear focus on the quality of candidates and the protection of the public interest, reports Portalb.mk.
"Given that the deadline for this procedure expired on April 15, we consider it of particular importance that the entire further course of the procedure be conducted transparently and in full compliance with legal provisions, with continued respect for institutional procedures and the principles of legal certainty.", say from SHGM.
The SHGM appeals that the selection should be guided by professional integrity, the candidates' relevant experience, clear vision and real capacity for advancing the work of public service broadcasting.
At the same time, the SHGM adds, it is necessary that the Law on Audio and Audiovisual Media Servicesand be fully and consistently respected in all aspects of the procedure, without selective approaches and without deviations, in order to ensure legitimacy, legal certainty and confidence in the procedure.
"A qualitative and carefully developed electoral process is an essential prerequisite for facing the challenges faced by the public service broadcaster in the service of the public interest. Only in that way can we contribute to strengthening the professional standards, independence and overall capacity of RTM to work in the interest of citizens. Therefore, we expect the new leadership, with a responsible and strategic approach, to contribute to the advancement of the public service, through clear development priorities, professional management, dedicated strengthening of the correspondent network and a clear determination to work in the public interest.
