Albanian politician Bujar Nallbani, former candidate for president of the Democratic Party of Albania, has referred to Tropoja, the northern Albanian city also known by locals as the Gjakova Highlands, as "on the border with Serbia."
In a debate last night on Report TV where they were talking about developments in the DP and the party's leader, Sali Berisha, Nallbani had a clash with journalist Isa Myzyraj.
"He [Sali Berisha] is not called a leader, because it is known where he comes from. Those who come from there, from the border with Serbia, are not called leaders for me," said Nallbani.
Journalist Myzyraj laughed at him, asking him to "keep his mouth shut."
"First, keep your mouth shut, because I come from the border with Serbia too..."
"I don't know you, I don't know... You don't speak like Saliu, that's why...", Nallban replied.
The journalist told him that he could not express himself that way and that he should apologize.
"But you can't say that those who come from the north... First, you are very wrong and in this case you should apologize here to all those who come from the 'border with Serbia'," he said.
Nallbani said he could apologize to "everyone, except Saliu."
"Do whatever you want with Sali. We who come from there are honest citizens of this country and you made a very big mistake today. Tropoja is not on the border with Serbia, sir - it is on the border with Kosovo," the journalist told him.
"But it was with Serbia, we're talking about the time it was," Nallban replied, saying he knows the demographics of the borders.
The journalist said that "a man has time to reap even the last hour of his life."
