No matter where you are, which part of the transatlantic alliance you are from, we stand with you and together we will be defenders of the peace and security of our nations. North Macedonia benefits from this every day. For example, aircraft from Greece and Italy patrol your skies to keep you safe. This sends a clear signal that no one is alone in NATO, your friends and allies are always with you, whenever we face a violent world, emphasized NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in his speech to MPs, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, the first people of the institutions, religious communities and the diplomatic corps in the country.

"Russia continues to threaten our secure world and exert pressure with its military aggression against Ukraine. Russia has become a team with China, North Korea and Iran. And together they are pooling their capabilities to push us even further. Global competition is intensifying and allies face constant threats from terrorism. Iran was an exporter of chaos. The danger posed by Iran is wide-ranging. Allies must be aware that Iran must not have nuclear weapons and we must pay particular attention to this," said Rutte.

In his speech to the Assembly, the Secretary General referred to NATO's financing, emphasizing that it is crucial for the security of all members.

According to him, only together "can we stand on the side of democracy and security."

"As MPs, I believe in your support and articulation of the importance of defense investments," said the NATO Secretary General.

Rutte spoke about the support that NATO is giving to Ukraine in the war with Russia, highlighting the efforts of US President Donald Trump, but also that it is clear that Ukraine's security is our security.

"Let us not forget that the security of the Western Balkans is key and essential for NATO. Security in this region is a shared responsibility and I will rely on North Macedonia to lead by example," said Rute, reported Zhurnal.

The Secretary General, as he said, personally witnessed today the contribution that North Macedonia makes to the security of NATO land forces in Bulgaria and Latvia, where our soldiers help repel aggression and protect the territory of allies.

At the beginning of the NATO Secretary General's speech in the Assembly, Left MPs expressed their disagreement with NATO policy with a banner. Rutte did not interrupt his speech and said that the MPs' behavior was democratic.
