"Four different faiths have not found their way into the heart of a pagan people"
– Fan Noli said about Albanians.
Paul Shtufi
Yes, this is an undeniable fact. History and the present prove that, in their historical extension, Albanians have been more connected to paganism than to monotheistic beliefs. The reasons may be different, but one seems to be the greatest and most decisive in the change of Albanian religions: Albanians have never been convinced of any religion in the sermons and "miracles" offered by preachers of the past.
AGE OF HUMANISM
Two decades after World War II, after Europe had had its fill of wars and blood and after America had offered it the example of living differently – not in enmity with its neighbors – the era of true humanism began. In a word, the influence of religions declined and within the years 1980-2000, humane atheism quietly emerged as a belief, as a behavior and as a way of living in harmony with social diversity. This atheism in Western Europe was not like the one that communism misused for its own indoctrinating purposes, but was the original: not only a BELIEF about the non-existence of gods, but also a MODEL of human behavior in relation to social diversity.
RELIGIONS ARE A HISTORICAL EXCESS
The rapid technical and technological development in the 21st century helped the process of mass communication throughout the globe and accelerated the humanization of Western societies. On this occasion, the development of atheism as a belief (not as a trend, not as a doctrine, not as an ideology!) also reached record numbers. Thus, the atheistic belief about life and phenomena, together with epochal scientific discoveries, accelerated human thinking to the extent that people saw religions in their historical excess.
EXCESSIONS MUST BE REMOVED...
Countries that realized that historical excesses must be consciously (not violently) removed from the daily life of modern societies have experienced enormous economic, human and democratic growth. And countries that have been freed from historical excesses – such as religion in this case – are today the most desirable countries to live in. To refresh our minds about what we are saying, let us recall countries such as Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Britain, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Japan, Canada, etc. As far as we know, in these countries, human atheism has reached up to 60 percent.
RELIGIONS AND THEIR HISTORICAL ROLE
Historically, religions have not only been harmful and cause wars. In ancient times, religions laid the foundations of education. Their books were the first constitutions of humanity, in which the moral codes and human behavior were written. As a result, the first states were founded on these writings, which used justice and morality, which made people significantly different from previous eras – completely savage. So, for the primitive and very savage times of humanity, 4200 religions were humane.
BELIEF DOES NOT DISAPPEAR, IT DIES.
I think that on planet earth there will always be people who need to believe. Simply, a psycho-emotional need, regardless of reason and scientific facts. For example, we all know that a certain medicine, which science has discovered, saves a person's life. However, there are millions and billions of people who, as soon as they recover, thank God for salvation.
Then, there are people who, as soon as they encounter a mystery of life, earth or cosmos, they more easily attribute the "attributes" to some god for that mystery than they strain their minds to unravel anything from that mystery. It is well known that not all people have the same cognitive and rational system, which is why some of them will sooner seek to believe in higher powers than to try to research or search for the not easy truth.
IMPOSITION…
There is nothing wrong with certain categories or societies of people believing in gods that they take for granted. The evil becomes great and unbearable when such people start and forcefully impose these beliefs on their children (remember how we acquired religious faith when we were children. Remember, did we have any other alternative).
Children who have their faith imposed on them from a young age will, as soon as they grow up, begin to imitate the violent model, because they know no other model than that of imposition.
HUMAN ATHEISM SAVES HUMANITY
Atheism is not a competing doctrine of religions, but neither is it against religions. Human atheism is a necessary extension of human thinking and scientific achievements. Therefore, it is a necessity of time. It is a human conviction that harmonizes the contradictions of life, because it is itself a product of contradictions and epistemological achievements.
The humane atheist, believing in man, in his values, in his infinite love and goodness, does not need a mediator beyond heaven who would "advise" him how to behave with man on earth.
Disbelief in God increases faith in man and his infinite powers of knowledge. He believes in the epistemology of things and in the absolute epistemological rule, which teaches us: "the unknown of today is known in the future."
Consequently, the unknown makes no sense to call God, because it is unknown. Moreover, the unknown is a motive and engine that sets in motion the will for research and new knowledge. This process never stops, because knowledge has no end. Therefore, the atheist believes in the process of knowledge, change and in the powers of man - in the entire life process.
GOOD NEWS
The number of atheists has also increased significantly in Kosovo. This indicator is also an indicator of prosperity, because atheism is the love of humanity, prosperity, values, science, and a worldview about nature.
