Pristina Mayor Përparim Rama said that "institutional stability, cooperation and responsible decision-making" were needed for the capital after recently reaching a coalition agreement with the Democratic Party of Kosovo, which the Democratic League of Kosovo said "does not represent the official position" of this party.
“Governance is, at its core, a responsibility to the citizen,” Rama wrote at the top of a Facebook post. “Therefore, our moral and political obligation is clear: to provide governance that serves citizens with responsibility, cooperation and mutual respect,” he says.
Rama said that "politics should not be an end in itself, but a means to achieve the public good: for the citizen."
"Today, Pristina is facing an important historical and developmental moment. With major projects awaiting us, including preparations for the Mediterranean Games, we are not only building modern infrastructure, but we are building the identity and perspective of a European, functional and competitive Capital. These processes require institutional stability, cooperation and responsible decision-making. In a democratic order, differences are natural and legitimate. But political maturity is measured by the ability to overcome them in the service of the common interest," he wrote.
Rama said that "citizens do not live in parties, they live in a shared community, therefore they are a COMMON responsibility."
"Their needs are not a matter of political interpretation, but an obligation for immediate concrete solutions. I am against any divisive rhetoric. We are one PEOPLE. One STATE. Therefore, we need a common vision, stability and responsible institutional actions from each of us," he wrote.
Rama said that he made the coalition agreement with PDK, AAK, Nisma and the League for Pristina "by placing the citizen at the center."
"By placing the citizen at the center and being aware that power is a service, not an instrument of obstruction, we have finalized co-government in the Capital with the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), the Social Democratic Initiative, the League for Pristina and most recently with the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK). In this context, the appointments from the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) were made in confirmation of the proposals received from the "Collegium" composed of the five branches of Pristina, a mechanism established by the LDK itself, which guarantees representation, balance and internal legitimacy. In parallel, representatives of our partners from AAK, the Initiative, the League for Pristina and PDK were also appointed, reflecting a comprehensive and functional approach. The Capital is an example of cooperation and development and will remain so," he wrote.
The appointments of the new directors, he said, "were made in accordance with proposals received from the 'Collegium;' composed of the five branches of Pristina, a mechanism established by the LDK itself, which guarantees representation, balance and internal legitimacy."
For the recently dismissed directors, whose mandates Rama said had "ended", he expressed "special gratitude" for "their professionalism and valuable contribution to the service of the city".
"I express special gratitude to the current directors, whose mandate has ended, for their professionalism and valuable contribution to the service of the city. While I wish the new directors success and high responsibility in the tasks they undertake."
Rama said he will support LDK in the June 7 parliamentary elections.
"Just as I have unconditionally supported the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) in the past elections, I will support it in these elections as well, with the conviction that democracy, institutional stability and state-building culture must be constantly protected and strengthened. Responsibility, order, development and service to the citizen, without divisive rhetoric but with a clear vision for the future, this is the philosophy of the right! Kosovo does not need more crisis and polarization, but functional institutions, cooperation and a vision for development. Because true leadership is not measured by the ability to create tension, but by the ability to unite people, to build institutional stability, and to move the country forward," he wrote.
The Vice President of the PDK, Besianë Musmurati, was appointed yesterday as the Vice President of the Municipality of Pristina, while Gazeta Express has learned that the PDK will also lead six directorates.
Rama and PDK have also agreed on the division of enterprises.
PDK Vice President Uran Ismaili announced on Monday on Pressing on T7 that a coalition agreement with Rama had been reached.
The LDK said in a reaction yesterday that "there is no agreement with the PDK and any other political party in Pristina for co-government."
"LDK has its own party structures, local decision-making bodies and beyond; and these structures have not been part of any governing agreement," it was stated, among other things, in a statement issued by this party.
