The Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren has made a statement about the action carried out on Wednesday, where six businesses and three residential houses were raided, undeclared gold and silver were found and seized, as well as an unlicensed weapon, announcing that the operation was carried out in coordination with the Regional Unit for the Investigation of Economic Crimes and Corruption in Prizren, as well as in cooperation with Kosovo Customs and the Kosovo Tax Administration.
The prosecution emphasizes that inspections were carried out in six business premises in the city of Prizren, as well as in three residential houses, during the inspections material evidence was obtained and a significant amount of undeclared gold and silver was found, and a case was initiated against four people for the criminal offenses of "Tax Evasion" and "Eviction from payment of mandatory customs duties or excise duties", reports Gazeta Express.

Prizren, May 21, 2026 – The Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren, in coordination with the Regional Unit for the Investigation of Economic Crimes and Corruption in Prizren, as well as in cooperation with Kosovo Customs and the Kosovo Tax Administration (ATK), has conducted investigative actions regarding suspicions that several businesses selling gold in the city of Prizren have been involved in illegal activities, evading customs and tax obligations related to the trading of gold and silver.
After undertaking investigative actions that started on 19.09.2025, by order of the prosecutor of the case, on 20.05.2026, inspections were carried out in six business premises in the city of Prizren, as well as in three residential houses. During the inspections, material evidence was obtained and a significant amount of undeclared gold and silver was found, and a case was initiated against four persons for the criminal offenses "Tax Evasion" under Article 307 and "Eviction from Payment of Mandatory Customs Tariffs or Excise Tariffs" under Article 312 of the Criminal Code.
From the controls carried out, a total of:
– 3.775,33 grams of undeclared gold, with an approximate value of around 455.000 euros;
– 4.204,98 grams of undeclared silver, with an approximate value of around 8.900 euros.
Also, during the searches in two different locations, two illegal weapons/pistols were found and seized and a case was initiated for the criminal offense of "Unauthorized ownership, control or possession of weapons" under Article 366 of the Criminal Code.
The Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren, in cooperation with relevant law enforcement institutions, remains committed to prosecuting cases of tax evasion, customs evasion and any other form of economic crime. Investigations regarding this case are ongoing.
