The Democratic Party of Kosovo has expressed "deep concern" about Prime Minister Albin Kurti's recent compromises regarding the implementation of laws on foreigners and vehicles that affect the Serbian community in the country.
PDK said that through these concessions, the sovereignty of the Republic of Kosovo is being directly violated.
"With his recent decisions, Kurti has made two serious concessions: he has allowed the functioning of illegal Serbian institutions within the territory of Kosovo and he has legitimized the documents that Serbia illegally issues to Kosovo citizens. By accepting them, he has made illegal Serbian structures participants in the implementation of the legislation of the state of Kosovo."
PDK also accused Kurti of entering into negotiations for these concessions away from public attention and at a time when the next institutional crisis was taking place, referring to the failure of the presidential election.
"These decisions show that Prime Minister Kurti has conducted negotiations away from the attention of public opinion, in a complete lack of transparency and at a time when the next institutional crisis was being staged, with which he and the ruling party are damaging the functionality of the Republic of Kosovo."
This statement by the PDK comes after the EU Ambassador to Kosovo, Aivo Orav, revealed at today's press conference that he had had "intensive talks with the Kosovo Government over the past few weeks", while saying that official Belgrade was also involved in the negotiations, with whom the EU envoy, Peter Sorensen, had communicated.
PDK also highlighted Kurti's statements that parallel structures no longer exist.
"For years, Kurti has been declaring that parallel structures of Serbia no longer exist in Kosovo, while with his decisions he is publicly acknowledging their existence and creating conditions for their continued functioning. Ironically, just a few weeks ago in Davos he was declaring to the world that parallel structures no longer exist. While now, through his political compromise, he is giving them a new legitimacy."
PDK continued by saying that "these concessions are a continuation of the dangerous logic of the Brussels Agreement and the Ohrid Annex, accepted by Kurti without transparency and without institutional debate, which are already producing concrete consequences on the ground to the detriment of Kosovo's state interest."
"The laws of the Republic of Kosovo must be implemented fully and equally for everyone, while any illegal structure operating outside the state system must be closed."
The Democratic Party of Kosovo called on the Kurti Government to "immediately stop the harmful policies that are producing institutional confusion and strengthening Serbia's narrative towards Kosovo." /Express/
