The Democratic Party of Kosovo has sent an official letter to Albulena Haxhiu regarding the second member of the Central Election Commission, requesting her to proceed with the appointment of the second member of this party to the CEC.

PDK states that the issue of the composition of the CEC remained unfinished during the mandate of former President Vjosa Osmani and that PDK's representation with two members in this institution is not a matter of political interpretation, but a right that derives from constitutional provisions, Gazeta Express reports.

"The PDK letter also emphasizes the importance of respecting the current institutional practice, according to which PDK has been represented with two members in the CEC, as well as maintaining the principles of equality and balance between political entities," the PDK statement said, among other things.

The Democratic Party of Kosovo has also addressed the Acting President, Albulena Haxhiu, with an official request to proceed with the appointment of the second member of this party to the Central Election Commission.

The request emphasizes that the issue of the composition of the CEC remained unfinished during the mandate of former President Vjosa Osmani and that the representation of PDK with two members in this institution is not a matter of political interpretation, but a right that derives from constitutional provisions.

The PDK letter also emphasizes the importance of respecting the current institutional practice, according to which PDK has been represented with two members in the CEC, as well as maintaining the principles of equality and balance between political entities.

Referring to Article 139, paragraph 4 of the Constitution of Kosovo, PDK argues that the distribution of seats in the CEC should be based on the representation of parliamentary groups in the Assembly. In the current conditions with four parliamentary groups, PDK considers that each group should have one representative in the first round, while the remaining seats should be divided according to the size of the groups, thus ensuring proportional representation.

This is the PDK's full request to Acting President Albulena Haxhiu:
